Before you begin, do note that your image should be of the highest quality. You are using the image-splitting technique to print large images on multiple pages. This technique will enlarge the split parts of the image in order to make it fit on the desired size of paper. If your image is of lower quality, you will get pixelated images.

To split your image into multiple parts, select the Fit to option in the Scaling section and enter the number of pages. The pages that you enter here will be in Rows by Columns or Columns by Rows format. For example, if you enter 2 by 3 pages, the image will be split into 2 x 3 = 6 pages. Hence, you have to join these 6 printed pages accordingly to make a larger image or poster.
You can also preview your image before printing it. When you are done, give the print command to print all the pages. I took the image of a dog and split it into 4 parts (see the above screenshot).

If you do not want to install third-party software on your PC, you can use this online tool. To use this free tool, visit rasterbator.net. After visiting the website, click on the Create your poster link and select the image from your computer. You can also upload an image from a URL or by using the drag-and-drop method.
After uploading the image, you will move to the next step, where you can select the paper size and layout (portrait and landscape) as per your requirement. Here, you can also enter the total number of output pages. By default, the output pages are set to 4 (4 Rows by 4 Columns). This means you have to print a total of 16 pages. The preview of your image is also displayed on the right side. When you are done, click Continue and select the effect for your image.
Click Continue and select the output type and other details. Now, click Complete # page poster. Here, # represents the total number of pages in your split image. After that, the Rasterbaing process will be started. After the completion of the Rasterbating process, your split image will be downloaded as a PDF.
Similarly, there are multiple software and online tools that you can use to split an image into multiple parts to make a poster. You can search for such types of tools and software online.
